Every Higher Degree by Research (HDR) student is required to complete a research thesis. To be eligible for examination, your thesis must be submitted in the format prescribed by the HDR Thesis Rules

The Flinders examination process is outlined in the HDR Examination Procedures.

Your thesis will be examined by two external and independent examiners who are international experts in their discipline. Each examiner will provide a written report and recommend a grade for your thesis.

As with many Australian universities, the examination is based on the written thesis. An oral defence is not required.

Any amendments specified by the examiners will need to be completed to the satisfaction of your supervisor, College HDR coordinator and the Dean of Graduate Research
